Giving Back to Our Local Children, One Shoe at a Time

There’s no better feeling than giving to the children who need it most in the Greater Cleveland area. Over the past five years our team has been a supporter of Shoes and Clothes for Kids, an organization dedicated to improving K-8 school attendance by eliminating lack of appropriate clothing, shoes and school supplies as barriers.

They have positively impacted the lives of area children by giving them the pride and confidence that comes with having clothes and supplies for school. Through their programs they helped improve school attendance, in some cases up to 24%.

We are proud to be active volunteers for this organization. For example, as donation materials arrived at their warehouse, Bethany Germano, VP, charitable giving & corporate events at First Federal Lakewood and board member at Shoes and Clothes for Kids, helped organize and stock the shelves. But she hasn’t stopped there because there’s always a time and place to help children in need.

“During the pandemic, I also volunteered to pack backpacks that were sent home with the students while classes were being conducted remotely,” said Germano.

From the Night at the Shoreby to a sock drive, we’ve enjoyed supporting Shoes and Clothes for Kids over the years and can’t wait to see how we can help in the future. Want to get involved? Check out their site for different ways to make a difference.
